However, the capital of the Spanish province of Biscay has much more to offer. After all, it is one of Spain’s richest cities. Landmarks include the Neoclassical opera house Teatro Arriaga (1890) and the city hall (1892) with its richly decorated Neo-Mudéjar Arab Hall, both designed by Joaquín Rucoba, as well as the metro system, designed by Foster & Partners, with its somewhat iconic glass entrances, called ‘fosteritos’.
