A stunning experiment in remixed Neo-classical architecture, Barcelona’s Granados 83 brings light and vertical space to a notable site, the old Pujol i Brull clinic. The hotel is now host to a very modern conception of luxury, mixing flowing space and high technology with creature comforts and Asian art influences.

The lobby is constructed around a central courtyard with glass ceiling, girded with the building’s original colonnades, now enhanced by steel, red marble, glass and iron. Visual texture is provided by the black-and-white stone floor and halls are covered in pale marble and zebrano wood. Barcelona’s status as a new culinary outpost is not neglected, as two restaurants and bars, one featuring forward-looking Mediterranean cuisine and the other, “La Terraza del Factory”, offering seasonal menus with an Asian flavour alongside the hotel’s swimming pool. The 77 guestrooms at Granados 83, several of which are split-level loft-style spaces, continue this innovative use of materials, and bathrooms feature extensive use of white Thassos marble. Furnishings are far from cold, sporting leather sofas and raw leather inserts on the bed’s headboard and chairs, as well as wireless Internet access and flat-screen LCD televisions with satellite access.

Design Hotel Granados 83 is located in the middle of Barcelona, just a few metres from Rambla de Cataluña, Paseo de Gracia and Avenida Diagonal, right in the heart of the business, shopping and tourist district.
