ANDALUSIA

Spain's seductive southernmost region: the birthplace of flamenco and the definition of Spanish lifestyle.

After several changes of owners and tenants for five centuries, Hotel Greif was acquired by Peter Staffler from the hamlet of Siffian on the Ritten mountain in 1816. Since then, the hotel has been owned continuously by the Staffler family who had it completely restored, until its reopening in 2000 as a modern design hotel.

"Greif" is the German word for "Griffin", a mythical creature with the wings, beak and talons of an eagle and the body of a lion. As it combines strength and wisdom, temporal powers with supernatural, so Hotel Greif compounds tradition with modernity and architectural substance with creative energy.

The 33 extraordinary rooms are the result of a brilliant collaboration between the owner, Franz Staffler, and the Viennese architect, Boris Podrecca. Each individual room has been designed by different contemporary artists and decorated with their own works under the unifying theme: a “joy to behold.”

As each room is unique, you’ll need at least 33 nights to discover the stories the rooms have to tell, and to really get to know Hotel Greif.

Visit Made by Originals to meet the creative spirits behind this hotel.
