A natural fusion of cultures, the Santa Teresa Resort in Pantelleria - one of four Hotelphilosophy members represented by Design Hotels ™ - is situated in an age-old crossroads between Europe and Africa. The island of Pantelleria is only 70km from the North African coast, and weather, food and culture all reflect the deep Southern Mediterranean location. The resort itself is a collection of 18 “dammusi” - bungalow-style typical local buildings clustered into 4 mini-villages, situated within the confines of some 40 hectare-working farm, each accommodating 2-4 people in individually furnished style, featuring alcoves or galleries and modern conveniences.
The resort, however, is more about providing a platform to take in this beautiful Afro-European slice of the Sicilian archipelago. Though each mini-village has its own swimming-pool, except for one in Monastero located in a more secluded area, ample swimming in the crystal blue (and sometimes green) southern waters is a few minutes away by car. The sky is always blue, and the black of the island’s volcanic rock foundation all provide stunning visual accompaniment to the slow pleasures of this part of the world. Food is fiercely local and features “Pantelleria pesto”, the freshest of fish, and couscous and Arabic sweets. Once evening comes, the resort’s Arabian garden is the ideal place to relax sipping a drink. |

The “dammusi” of Santa Teresa Resort are spread throughout the Piana di Sibŕ and the Valle di Monastero on the Island Pantelleria.
The island covers an area of 83 sq. km, and is the largest of the Sicilian islands. Some 70 km from the North coast of Africa and 80 km from the Sicilian mainland has a main ring road 40 km long circling the entire island.
The small village of Sibŕ and its delightful church is a stone throw away. From here you can reach Scauri in only a few minutes by car, a village with a small harbour and a shingle beach.
The resort is just 8 km away from the local airport, 10 km away from Pantelleria centre and harbour. |
