For thousands of years, Bormio has been a vacation hotspot – literally. Ancient Roman aristocrats flocked to the Italian mountain town’s thermal spas for relaxation and rejuvenation. Today, people travel to Bormio to ski, skate, shop, dine, and explore…and then visit those same spas, soaking in the history as well as the natural beauty of the Valtellina Valley and the Italian Alps. Even with its illustrious past, the town still has room for something new: Eden Hotel, a stylish and elegant destination that works in concert with its mountain setting, conceived and executed by Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners.

Together, the hotel’s four buildings and enclosing chestnut fence form a graceful single structure that harmonizes with its environment. The buildings are connected with staircases and transparent catwalks to give visitors the best possible access to Bormio’s panoramic mountain views. Wood, glass and stone come together in simple shapes, embedded in the gentle slope of the mountains, blending with the colors and features of the landscape. Further emphasizing this dialogue with nature is the lush, sustainable garden surrounding the hotel – it’s nearly as enchanting as the one that gives Eden its name.

The natural theme continues throughout the hotel’s warm, welcoming interior, where carefully selected materials and fabrics in 27 rooms and suites evoke a unique mountain home atmosphere, cosy but not kitschy. The rooms feature hand-chosen accessories curated by Ravaioli Silenzi Studio, as well as nature-inspired panels by artist Mary degli Angiuoni.

The Eden Hotel is ideally situated for access to ski slopes, Bormio’s historic center and the hot springs that first made the town famous. The hotel also features its own spa and Turkish bath as well as a gourmet restaurant, Eden Bistrot, serving sophisticated Italian cuisine to match the high-quality Italian design.

LOCATION OF EDEN HOTEL

Bormio is the capital of Valtellina, located 1,225 m above sea level and covering an area of 41 km2. The historical centre of Bormio is rich of old mansions, churches and museums that tell the past when the country of Bormio enjoyed many privileges and even gained autonomy. The area has 4 ski areas with a total of 160km of slopes and 50 km of cross country tracks.
