HOT DEALS AND NEW HOTELS
Situated at the intersection of two ancient Roman roads in the charming “cittá alta” of Bergamo, a medieval walled-city close to both the Alps and Milan, the GombitHotel has turned a historic crossroads into contemporary luxury. The hotel is adjoined by a monumental 13th century watchtower that rises above the old town’s clustered rooftops. “The entire historical building comes back to live a new life in the sign of art, and therefore of continuity,” according to owner and Bergamo native Nadia Galeotti. Having chosen this symbolic address as a physical link to the city’s remarkable past, Galeotti envisions the hotel as an arena for creative exchange, a platform for local artists and, above all, a space for cultural discovery.
The GombitHotel’s interiors lighten the austerity of its stonewall aesthetic with hints of surreal artistry. Bright red books adorn the ceiling leading to the library nook, while sculptures, such as bundles of rolled manuscripts, are nestled within the ancient walls’ crevices. Original wooden ceilings aged hundreds of years create a monastic ambiance that interior designer Gio Pozzi complemented with her choice of textiles, primarily hand-made lightweight linens in unostentatious earth tones. With 13 unique guestrooms and a daily regional breakfast, the GombitHotel is an intimate sanctuary that promises an exceptional experience in hospitality: it is a unique point of departure for cultural and epicurean exploration, bridging the ancient and the contemporary.
With its adjoining watchtower ascending above the picturesque old town of Bergamo, the GombitHotel is an architectural monument dating back to the 13th century. It is an homage to the medieval city’s cultural heritage: food and art.
