In the hotel’s public areas, which are delineated by chunky concrete supports, interactive art installations urge you to question your pre-conceived ideas about surveillance. On the main staircase trunk, a kind of primitive altimeter tracks your journey to bed, showing you how high you are above sea level with every step.
All 21 bedrooms and suites are a study in pared-down style adding warmth to the functional décor. But catch your first view of the real Athens, crowned by the classical pillars of the Parthenon, and you might just be tempted to head out for a day of inner-city exploration
