From the expansive grounds to the relaxed intimacy of the fireside lounge, every corner of Hotel Bachmair Weissach is steeped in rich history – a history that is being revived and modernized to satisfy the business and leisure traveler of today. In 1862, local mill owners the Bachmair family, built a small hotel which quickly became a gathering point for artisans and farmers, and a celebration venue for locals. In 2010, local Korbinian Kohler, whose grandfather was a regular patron, obtained the property with a vision to bring the hotel back to its former glory. Its facilities, services and close proximity to Munich combine to create a lifestyle resort for business and leisure surrounded by mountains and greenery.

Located at the base of the Alps, on the southern shore of Lake Tegernsee in Rottach-Egern, the hotel consists of several buildings surrounded by parkland that is traversed by a mountain current. The interiors blend Bavarian authenticity with stylish elegance, conveying the feeling of a private country club, abounding with country-cool charm. But it is the small details, such as original furniture, low glowing candles and fresh flowers, that are scattered throughout the property that give the place its genuine allure.

Kohler’s attention to detail is most evident in the fireside Bachmair Weissach Lounge, located on the main building’s ground floor, which aims to re-establish Bachmair Weissach as a relaxing social hub, where locals and visitors can mingle. Here, Bavarian traditions are given a contemporary facelift, with pine ceilings and wall panels, tables made from slices of tree trunks, green velvet chairs and a dramatic fireplace on a black wall, backlit by a sultry red light.

All 146 light-flooded rooms and suites combine simplicity and modernity, featuring exposed wooden beams, spacious bathrooms and earthy shades that reflect the surrounding landscape which is visible from the large windows. This style is continuous throughout the hotel’s numerous conference spaces – ranging in size from 24 to 288 sqm. There is an additional 2,700 sqm of space ideal for product and vehicle presentations that can accommodate up to 1,100 people. All of these spaces feature state-of-the-art technology and ample natural lighting.

The inviting family-friendly atmosphere and professional service is ideal for carefree holidays. The Spa area is fully equipped with a Finnish sauna and heated swimming pool and unique treatments such as herbal sweating cures and blossom steam baths are available. The large estate ground offers endless opportunities for staying active, an outdoor tennis court, a gym and yoga classes; while the surrounding landscape offers golfing, horse riding, hiking, skiing, mountain biking and sailing on the picturesque lake. But for those who prefer to relax, the hotel also boasts cozy spaces for wining and dining, including the Gasthof zur Weissach which features five separate parlors where sophisticated Bavarian cuisine is served and the restaurant Laulenzi that offers a Euro-Asian fusion menu.
