HOT DEALS AND NEW HOTELS
Architect Jan Störmer's glass and steel facade emerges from Hamburg's staid residential area as a potent urban-chic style statement. Though only eleven stories high, SIDE evokes visions of luminescent skyscrapers. A spectacular light show designed by iconic light choreographer Robert Wilson pulses through the hotel's soaring atrium with ever-changing intensity, mimicking the breaking of waves. Complementing Wilson's work is star designer Matteo Thun's eighth-floor lounge, its suggested weightlessness achieved with curved furniture and, floating disk lighting and 360-degree views of Hamburg's rooftops. Guests and in-the-know locals enjoy the lounge's voluptuous, round furnishings and [m]eatery bar + restaurant, where a 800-degree infrared oven and an exclusive dry-aging process create unimaginably good steaks made with the best quality meats from Argentina, the United States and Germany. While the color palette in the bar is a dark and stormy affair, guests enjoy a soothing and sumptuous canvas of buttery creams in their rooms. The public spaces feature strong color and lush velvets, such as energetic oranges and the warm yellow walls in the restorative spa treatment rooms. At SIDE, private spaces feel like sanctuaries and public areas bubble with fun and possibility.
