MEET THE ORIGINAL: BERNADETTE CHEVALLIER
After graduating from ESSEC business school in France, Bernadette Chevallier had an exciting and varied career in hospitality and tourism before becoming the president of ODO, standing for “Où Dîne-t-On? - Où Dort-On?” (Where do we eat? - Where do we sleep?) – a hospitality company founded by her and her former classmates. Chevallier’s vision for La Maison Champs Élysées is to redefine luxury, “Our target is a clientele of sophisticated international guests for whom luxury is more than just a question of money. For us, luxury has more to do with perceived quality, and the generosity of our materials and attitudes.” This attitude is evident in the hotel’s approach to service, which is attentive but never pompous, well-mannered without being stiff, always thoughtful, never ill-timed, and perfectly polite without being formal. “Our staff make it their duty to anticipate requests, and are always ready to say yes and to find and deliver solutions,” she says.
