HOT DEALS AND NEW HOTELS
Originally an 18th-century abbey on Rue Saint-Benoît in Paris, the Bel-Ami has been transformed by a new generation of French designers into a modern masterpiece of pared-down luxury. French design duo Nathalie Battesti and Veronique Terreaux – known for their invigorating interiors scattered around Paris and Tokyo – accomplish a pristine simplicity that offers warmth and character, style and comfort. In 2008, French designer Pascal Allaman created new rooms and suites with pure, simple lines enhanced with contemporary tones.
Now, guests can bask in the spaces' calm, informal sophistication. Natural materials such as Wenge wood give the rooms an earthy touch, while a rich, subtle palette of chocolate, pistachio, coffee, and caramel tones produces an understatement and artistic refinement within the two-century-old French abbey that gently intertwines the themes of nature and urbanism. Very recently, Marina Bessé, the fashion hat creator and designer, took some liberties with the Bel-Ami design codes for the new design of the two suites on the first floor and a collection of 20 new bedrooms with ebony and ivory or ocher and beige themes. The custom-designed furniture, the harmony of the shapes, and the interplay of the materials give the spaces a unique style.
The Bel-Ami dares to be fun and exerts an unpretentious appeal to global fashionistas, all the while providing a soothing backdrop to the urban bustle of the Left Bank outside.
