Zell am See is pleasantly located on the lake Zeller, near the Austrian city of Salzburg.

Noted as a ski resort, the city also has a Romanesque church, St. Hippolyte, which is justly famous for its elevated marble walkway. The Old Town has a number of historic buildings and a city museum, located in the Kastnerturm, a tower dating back to around 930. In 2007 the Ferry Porsche Congress Centre opened its gates in Zell am See, a modern high-tech building that enhances the cultural and economical capabilities of the city.
