MEET THE ORIGINAL: PRIYA PAUL

Priya Paul of the prestigious Apeejay Surrendra Group, which manages The Park Kolkata, came into the hotel business at an early age. Her youth gave her an edge, and in the mid-90s, Paul managed to reinvent the family properties into a chain of pioneering designer boutique hotels. Paul works closely with an exciting stable of local and international designers, artists and architects like Sir Terence Conran, to create unique hotels with a dynamic and innovative mix of spaces.

With a goal to have 20 properties by 2020, The Park Hotels’ aim is to offer a contemporary and traditional view of India, “The most talented artists are taking traditional elements but expressing them in different ways. This is the new India,” says Paul.
