Restaurateur Ina Krug, architect Moritz Theden, and journalist Christian Krug were only visiting Marrakech for a party when they fell head over heels in love with the city. “It was so inspiring. We took it all in. We saw the people, felt the atmosphere and even on that first night thought‚ ‘Wow, what could we do here?’”.
The Great Getaway Medina is their second project, housed in a refurbished palace that is nestled in the heart of the medina, surrounded by the lively souk where Ina knows many of the vendors personally. She uses her inside knowledge to offer her guests a glimpse behind doors that usually remain closed to tourists. “Our guests have extremely high standards on quality. They are looking for authenticity in Marrakech’s historic districts and it can only be found if one is willing to delve into the culture,” she says.
