Michael Trenz

Michael Trenz of the Weingut Trenz in the heart of the Rheingau Germany comes from a long tradition of German wine makers. The winery has been in the Trenz family for over 325 years and is one of the oldest in the region. Since taking over the reigns of the business in 1998 Trenz has successfully managed to pair innovation and forward thinking with the winerys long and rich tradition. Rather than chasing trends, Trenz strives to bring out the honest character and terroir of a his wines. According to Trenz good wines are made with as little as compulsory, as much as necessary. The combination of old vineyards which allow for more complex wines, modern cellar techniques and a late and selective hand-picked harvest lead to fresh, fruity and great substantial wines. The Weingut Trenz has received critical acclaim for its ability to produce high quality wines at excellent prices. It also stands out amongst its peers as a destination for wine-lovers and the curious; part of its premises have been converted into a spacious and elegant wine-tasting restaurant with an accompanying Wine boutique. In 2008 the Weingut Trenz was awarded the prestigious Gault-Millau Discovery of the Year award and decorated with two grapes. After very few years Michael Trenz has managed to create wines that can hold their own next to the classics of the Rheingau.
