The inhabitants of Neiden are mainly Skolts, a subgroup of the Sami people that has converted to the Russian Orthodox Church and decided to settle permanently in Neiden when the national border between Norway and Russia was established. Neiden is a good place to go hunting and fishing (especially salmon), or just to enjoy outdoor life. The Neiden river is known for its natural beauty, and the village also has a beautiful wooden chapel - St. George’s - dating back to 1901.
