Dublin has fine libraries, literary museums such as the National Print Museum, and a seemingly uncountable number of pubs, among them Mulligan’s Pub, once the meeting place of the “Society for the Preservation of the Dublin Accent”. The city has a definite 19th century flair to it, but due to the economic boom that came with Ireland’s integration into the EU, the addition of many modern buildings has changed the face of the city. One of the most controversial and visible new additions is the Spike, a 120-metre pin that looms over O’Connell Street.
